Past and ongoing course offerings include: Writing the Living World; Writing Ambitious Poems in Times of Uncertainty; Thresholds: Poetry Master Class; Find Your Poetic Wellspring; The Poet’s Toolbox: Becoming a Better Writer in Any Genre; The Hybrid Memoir; Intuitive Poetics; and Nature vs. Technology.

Note: I am currently developing course offerings based on my forthcoming craft book, Wilderment: Creative Writing in the Time of Climate Change, forthcoming in 2027. Contact me if you’re interested in hosting one of these.

Coaching & Mentorship

Each year, I work individually with a limited number of poets who want caring and perceptive feedback on their poems, or who are looking to reinvigorate their writing practice. I offer single feedback sessions, monthly coaching packages, and manuscript consultations.

I work with adult and teen writers of all experience levels to hone their attention, find inspiration, and engage more deeply with the living world around them. I have over fifteen years of experience teaching creative writing and literature at universities, arts and community organizations, high schools, and conferences, and love bringing people together across disciplines for conversation, collaboration, and new imaginings.

In connection with the publication of Wilderment: Creative Writing in the Time of Climate Change, in 2027-2028 I will be dedicating my efforts toward workshops and speaking engagements focused on helping writers deepen and expand their ecological and climate engagement. Please reach out if you would like to discuss booking me for a course or event.

From students…

“The best part of working with Sarah Rose was her genuine enthusiasm for the success of my poems coupled with an extensive knowledge of poetry and craft. I felt she brought the same care, thoughtfulness, and precision to helping me revise my own poems as she would to her own work. Her feedback has depth and heart.” — QL

“Sarah Rose possesses a keen eye for detail and offers expert advice on how to improve poems. But best of all, she doesn’t merely suggest, she inspires, and helps writers to see their work in new ways. She sets them on a path to finding exactly what the poem or manuscript needs.” — CW

“Sarah is one of the best poetry teachers I have worked with. She takes time to find out the creative concerns of each and every one of her students, and tailor her feedback for them accordingly. As an artist who moves between forms, Sarah is also extremely attentive to how her students can broaden their intellectual and artistic horizon. — ND
